At Darling Mental Health, we are committed to providing accessible mental health care while maintaining clear and consistent billing practices. We understand that financial circumstances can shift, and we want to work with you when they do. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please reach out—our team is always open to discussing options and finding a path forward together.
In alignment with Massachusetts regulations and insurance requirements, we have established the following billing protocols to support transparency and continuity of care:
Payment Processing
- Copays, coinsurance, and deductibles will be charged to the card on file once insurance claims have been processed.
- If you prefer to make payments manually instead of automatic charges, you may opt out at any time—just let us know your preference.
Outstanding Balances
- If treatment has ended and there is an outstanding balance, we allow a 90-day period for payment or to set up a payment plan.
- After 90 days, any remaining balance may be charged to the card on file, in accordance with the financial agreement signed at intake.
New Client Billing Requirements
- One initial session may take place without an insurance card or credit card on file.
- Up to two sessions may occur with only one of these items (either insurance information or a credit card) on file.
- For those opting out of automatic payments: Clients may attend up to four sessions before payment of copays, coinsurance, or deductibles is required.
- After this point, accounts must be brought up to date to continue services, and care may be paused if billing requirements are not met.
Pro Bono
- Darling Mental Health budgets for limited provision of pro-bono services to those who qualify with caps for each provider. If you are unable to meet billing requirements and have evidence of more than one element of financial hardship (i.e. unemployed and uninsured), please reach out for consideration to qualify for services as a pro-bono client.
In accordance with Massachusetts law and federal HIPAA regulations, clients have the right to receive clear information about fees, request itemized statements, and discuss payment concerns at any time. We strive to ensure that financial policies are communicated openly and applied fairly.
We deeply value the trust you place in us and aim to approach all financial matters with transparency, respect, and flexibility whenever possible. If you have any questions or concerns about billing, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@darlingmentalhealth.com.
