This course meets the AASECT Core Knowledge Content Areas: P, Q
Presented by Jeremy J. Darling, LMHC, CST & Taylor Harmon, MA, CSE
This discussion-based workshop invites sex educators and sex therapists into dialogue to explore what each field can offer the other. While both disciplines overlap in their training, each brings their own nuances to the field of sexual wellness. Together, participants will examine where these approaches overlap and diverge, and how collaboration can strengthen their practices. Through discussion and interactive activities, we’ll highlight strategies for supporting clients and communities with greater nuance, compassion, and creativity. Attendees will leave with fresh insights and practical tools to enrich both therapeutic and educational work.
Course objectives:
- Identify overlaps and gaps in each discipline’s training, and the places where one may be able to supplement another (using AASECT certification frameworks)
- Understand the shortcomings and problematic histories of the respective disciplines
- Pinpoint boundaries where referrals to the other discipline may be needed
- Create referral networks with other sex educators and therapists
This course will be offered in person and online (synchronous) and will require pre-registration.
