This is the second of four trainings offered to develop comprehensive skills associated to providing gender affirming care as a mental health professional.

Review of terminology and languages used for best practice for engaging with gender diverse individuals and those who are questioning their gender identity. This course will include targeted understanding of framing, evaluating, and communicating a person’s preparedness and mental/emotional/social readiness to begin medical transitioning with the use of cross-sex hormone treatment and provide framework for professional communication with other providers.

Course objectives:

  • Learn about the challenges faced by the transgender community locally, regionally, nationally, and globally
  • Identify a three-fold evaluation process in helping questioning persons reason their readiness to make steps of transitioning
  • Learn a multi-faceted form of evaluation for clear communication and identification of a person’s preparedness to begin medical transitioning

This course will be offered virtually via Zoom, will require pre-registration, and will be recorded for quality assurance and evaluation purposes only.

Info & Policies

To receive Continuing Education credits an evaluation must be completed and submitted at the end of the course.

This course meets the requirements of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists and is approved for 3 CE Credits. These CE credits may be applied toward AASECT certification and renewal of certification.
