Unmasking Care: Neurodivergent Affirming Clinical Practice

September 25, 2026

1:00PM- 3:00PM EST

Presented by Bella Mazza, LMHC, BC-DMT

This 2-hour training will review common clinical presentations associated with neurodivergent identities and diagnoses and will explore the social model of disability as it relates to neurodivergence. The workshop will review methods on how to discuss neurodivergence with transparency, curiosity, and empathy while supporting clients who may be exploring or questioning a neurodivergent diagnosis. Drawing from person centered, somatic, and strengths based approaches, the training will introduce practical strategies for supporting clients through psychoeducation, skill building, and environmental accommodations that promote stability and wellbeing. Accessible educational resources, common support needs, and options for holistic or wraparound care will be reviewed to provide options that clinicians and clients may consider both within and beyond therapy. The training will also highlight approaches that foster self acceptance, inclusivity, and neurodivergent affirming care, with the goal of supporting long term client engagement and success.

Course Objectives:

  • Identify common clinical presentations and considerations associated with neurodivergent identities and diagnoses and discuss approaches for introducing these topics with clients in a thoughtful and collaborative way.
  • Apply accessible psycho-education strategies that increase client understanding, self awareness, and acceptance of neurodivergence.
  • Describe common challenges and support needs associated with neurodivergence and identify interventions, accommodations, and coping strategies that can be supportive both within and outside of therapy sessions.

This course will be offered virtually (synchronous) and will require pre-registration.
