Articles from WPATH conference

Though there are several things to report from the WPATH conference, I feel that the most helpful thing I can do is share links to free and open access research articles being discussed in our circles.

One researcher who has been involved in publishing several articles on transgender sexual satisfaction, embodiment, and pleasure was kind enough to publicly release a link to a list of articles she is a part of: paper sexuality – Google Drive for which I highly recommend all sex therapists to review.

Additionally, the following articles were cited in presentations I attended throughout the conference and for which I highly recommend other therapists and medical providers review if they haven’t already come across them:

What the Primary Care Pediatrician Needs to Know About Gender Incongruence and Gender Dysphoria in Children and Adolescents – ScienceDirect (2014)

Young Adult Psychological Outcome After Puberty Suppression and Gender Reassignment | Pediatrics | American Academy of Pediatrics (aap.org) (2016)

Body Dissatisfaction and Mental Health Outcomes of Youth on Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy | Pediatrics | American Academy of Pediatrics (aap.org) (2020)

Psychosocial Functioning in Transgender Youth after 2 Years of Hormones – PMC (nih.gov) (2023)

Sexual Experiences of Young Transgender Persons During and After Gender-Affirmative Treatment | Pediatrics | American Academy of Pediatrics (aap.org) (2020)

Timing of Puberty Suppression and Surgical Options for Transgender Youth | Pediatrics | American Academy of Pediatrics (aap.org) (2020)
