Darling Mental Health would like to recognize that there is currently a lot of global news coverage and discussion about issues that many people have a hard time fully engaging in or taking a hard stand on publicly. Though we have been a group practice privately owned with a value-aligned transparent agenda in our staffing and creation of a safe space for marginalized groups, we feel it is an important time to remind those who are newer acquaintances as well as well-established partners on where Darling Mental Health stands regarding important social issues of the day.
Our public stance on politics and therapy is not new and in fact we have a page specifically dedicated to Political Speech & Ideals: darlingmentalhealth.com/info-policies/political-speech/
We affirm the following stances and beliefs for which all therapists and staff are acutely aware of before onboarding: Black Lives Matter (BLM), Trans Rights are Human Rights, honor Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), De-colonization & centering of Indigenous Voices.
We believe that being a politically forward mental health practice not only communicates safety to marginalized groups who struggle to find ethical and compassionate care, but also demonstrates and models to the greater community the need for all of us to stand up for what we believe is right.
We staunchly oppose genocide and recognize that currently there are genocides happening in the Congo, Gaza / Palestine, Ethiopia, Sudan, with active systemic oppression of religious and ethnic groups in Myanmar, China, North Korea, Yemen, and Nigeria that may or may not qualify at current date for the definition of attempted genocide.
NEVER AGAIN means NEVER AGAIN FOR EVERYONE!!!
STOP GENOCIDE = FREE PALESTINE!
For more on the nuances of what lenses, languages, and ethical reasonings and comparisons are used to guide this policy, including our prioritization of pro-Palestinian material in our waiting room, please consider reading the Director’s words on the matter:
Letter from the Director – September 2026
We endorse donations to Medicines Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) who do good work in multiple parts of the world including Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, and more than 70 other countries. Also considering patronizing Palestinian owned businesses and business with clear politics of support for the Palestinian people.
