Therapy is a political activity. Though many therapists have been trained to believe otherwise, our provision of space for people to reflect on their own mental health is an act of political freedom that does not exist throughout the globe. Therapy, by its very nature, provides people a personal and confidential space to process their struggles with functioning in a society that may or may not be catered to them. Therapists are expected to stand against injustice and advocate for the victims of trauma. Much of the trauma we see in the world is systemic and is a product of a society structured to protect certain people while exploiting others.
For these reasons and others this page has been created to convey what Darling Mental Health advocates, in regard to politics and policies, that the owner believes enshrines an individual’s right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Beginning with a philosophy, borrowed from Key West, that all people are equal members of our one human family:
Identity Politics & Nationalism
Ecology & Planetary Awareness*
*Not all pages are complete and feedback/resources on topics related that work to decolonize therapy and advocate for the vulnerable will be gladly incorporated.
